4th Sunday of every Month - 8.00pm - Folk Music Session
Shippon’s folk session is a monthly gathering of local folk musicians who like to get together to play music. It’s an informal evening where people take turns to lead tunes or sing songs. The music tends to be traditional English, Irish, Scottish or Scandinavian tunes and the songs can be anything that falls under the wide heading of folk.
The instruments are many and varied but you might see fiddles, concertinas, accordions, melodeons, whistles and guitars; the Swedish Nyckelharpa, the English bagpipes or the Appalachian dulcimer; bouzoukis, mandolins, flutes and bodhrans. If you like folk music come along and listen or if you like to play or sing traditional music, come and join in.
